Some rules for performance of paneurhythmy
1. Paneurhythmy is played from the 22nd of March until the 22nd of September at sunrise, and it is taught in autumn and winter until the beginning of spring.
2. For the paneurhythmy performance there should be at least one musician or singer. The explanation is in the answer of the Master concerning what sister M. Zlateva said, whether it would be good to use gramophone: No! – said the Master. – Playing live music is better.“ (“The Sunrise" of the White Brotherhood, sings and plays music, learns and lives“, volume I, page 353).
3. Participants are standing in pairs in one or more circles as the distance between them is not less than 10–15 meters, and in-between the other participants in the circle (in the couple, in front of the couple and behind the couple) the distance is not less than one meter.
4. The distance correction in the circle is done delicately: the internal participant in the couple looks with his peripheral eyesight after the distance of the couple in view of the centre, the external participant – for the distance between the two of them in the couple, and they both look after their distance concerning the couple ahead of them. Of course, all this is done naturally, without tension and much effort.
5. Before the start of every exercise, in order not to skip the first tact, every of the participants in the circle could look towards the centre, where the musician(s) make(s) specific movement that is featured by the musicians before they start playing, with which we get to know that the exercise beginning starts. Thus, if in the centre there is choir singer(s), we have seen the way they take deep breath the moment they start singing and thus we know the song is starting.
6. Paneurhythmy is not interrupted during its performance by participants going in or going out and by talks.
7. The participants do not change their places during the paneurhythmy performance, except for the cases in which this is part of the exercise, and for example in exercise 13 “Weaving” and they do not make unnecessary movements in the circle during the pauses between the exercises.
8. Paneurhythmy is played via making small footsteps. If this is done, then between the couples in the circle there won’t be formed the so-called by the Master “gates” – large distances between the couples in the circle.
9. During the paneurhythmy performance everybody is trying to be deeply concentrated in oneself – in the movements performance, on the text contents, the nice thoughts and feelings, whose carrier is paneurhythmy.
10. During the 28 exercises, the 29th exercise “Pentagram” and until the VIII Movement of the 30th exercise – “Sun rays” the participants in the circle do not sing (27th exercise – “Breathing” is performed by everybody aloud). To this aim, in the circle centre we have one or more choir singers singing the text of the melodies and the playing people focus their mind on the text and they not singing.
11. The greeting of the disciple comes in the end, after the performance of the 30 exercise “Sun rays”. Thus are greeted the participants in the circle.
12. Paneurhythmy is taught in the paneurhythmy courses or individually, but never in the circle.
13. To the aim of reaching synchrony in the paneurhythmy performance or the so-called “harmony” between the participants at the physical field, it would be useful to attend paneurhythmy courses, so that everyone can learn to play not only for him/herself, but together with the others. Then it is possible in the technical performance of paneurhythmy to achieve such harmony-beauty, which is present in the performance of the dance formations playing “as one”.
About Clothing
White colour is symbolic and we are glad to dress with our especially prepared for the paneurhythmy white linen dresses (with white belts), and men with white linen suits – white shirts and trousers (with white belts). It would be good if clothing is convenient and beautiful, but not coquettish. Best clothing tissues are linen, cotton and wool. And concerning the clothing for exercise “Sun rays” the Master says the following: “Sun rays” should be played with special suits with sleeves as wide as toga and with wide belts on the waist. Suits should be of blue, pink and white colour.” (Boev, B. “Tuning human soul”, volume II, “The twelve doors of life are open”, page 63)
About Musicians and Choir Singers
Every of the paneurhythmy components – music, text, movements – is of equivalent value. That is why musicians and choir singers do not give predominance solely to their musical performance, but they also participate in the motion performance of the paneurhythmy exercises, in the cases in which they could be replaced by another musicians or choir singer. Let the musicians and choir singers remember that when paneurhythmy is played, there is done work with live nature, that is why their musical performance is solely their performance in the total live “concert” of harmony between Nature and human, achieved via melodies, words and movements of paneurhythmy exercises.
